The heartfelt and meaningful story is about to begin...

Cunnington & Sanderson have proudly written the beginning to a heartfelt and meaningful story - the Pillow Narrative.

Creative people from around the world have been invited to become storytellers and portray their own emotive story in what ever format they wish. Once a story is completed the images or short films will then become a chapter within this meaningful and supportive story.

The aim of the pillow narrative is to raise mental health awareness. By starting a conversation about emotions and sharing our thoughts and feelings around these inspiring images, we hope it will encourage people to talk more about emotions.

The thought provoking avantgarde pillow t-shirt designed by Cunnington & Sanderson in 2019 (years before the viral #pillowchallenge took over social media) is the emotionally charged garment to ignite the story teller's imagination and links the whole message together. The Pillow top, the central piece to the 'occupied' collection presented at Milan Fashion Week, was originally designed from emotions associated with depression when a bedroom can become a solitary sanctuary. Bedlinen, blankets and pillows are worn as every day wear. No longer afraid or controlled by these unwanted thoughts and feelings the pillow is worn up front and central for all to see. Talking about emotions can be helpful to ourselves and to others, and can show people who feel lonely or isolated that they are not alone.

Sadly the subject of Mental Health is a topic that is frowned upon and left unspoken, with multiple conditions classed under one heading. We hope this project will change people perceptions about this illness and encourage them to also participate in the narrative of raising awareness. This unique and imaginative project is driven by allowing the individual the rare opportunity to create and express emotions in which ever format they choose, including film, styling, make up, acting, illustration, photography, art, to name a few. Allowing everyone the opportunity to create and tell their own vision and message .

Kind and supportive creatives located all around the world have already taken part in creating inspiring chapters including : London, South Africa, Paris, Milan, Greece, Switzerland, Los Angeles and Germany. We hope the universal and important subject of mental health awareness will be shared in as many countries as possible.

Poor mental health can effect us all, the NHS states 1 in every 4 adults experiences a diagnosable mental health problem in any given year. This silent and unspoken illness needs to be talked about so more support can be made to make the much needed improvements to provide good mental health for all. This project aims to tackle the stigma associated with this universal topic and aims to encourage people to talk about their feelings and emotions, because this can help.

Other supportive projects set by luxury British fashion brand Cunnington & Sanderson such as the #wearemotionchallenge continues to raise metal health awareness and has previously raised much appreciated donations for charities including MIND, The Samaritans and the Mental Health Foundation.

You can also show support simply by joining in on social media, liking and commenting on the story tellers posts and sharing them onto your own stories which will raise awareness, start a conversation and spread the word about this worthy project. This is free and only takes a click of a button to make a huge amount of help.

Here is a preview of images from the first story teller Robyn Gamston.

Cunnington & Sanderson are very excited to announce that the first pillow narrative short film by Robyn Gamston will be posted on instagram @cunningtonandsanderson on Saturday the 26th August at 6pm. We hope you will tune in to watch, like, comment and share, and of course to talk about emotions.

A unique Pillow Narrative by a different story teller will be presented on our Instagram account every Saturday at 6pm.

To be continued...
